Nubuck FurnitureNubuck is made of the outside of cowhide and is sanded so a nap is created. Although the outside of the hide is much more durable and stronger than the leather from the inside, nubuck still is prone to staining and soiling. But don’t worry, in most cases, you will be able to clean your furniture and remove some of the stains by yourself. Here are the steps to follow in order to safely and properly clean your nubuck furniture:

Regular maintenance

Use a special nubuck eraser (sponge) or cloth to clean the surface of your upholstery. Do this on a regular basis, in order to remove dirt, soiling and unsightly oily spots on your nubuck upholstery.

For even better results, you can wrap the nubuck eraser with a sponge and use it to clean the surface. Swipe it different directions to ensure that the soiling is removed thoroughly.
To lift the nap, use a napping brush and swipe the surface in circular motions, but don’t repeat the swiping on the same area too much. Do this regularly to ensure that your nubuck sofa looks as good as new.

Special cleaning solutions

If there are soiled areas, use a special and high-quality spray cleaner. Apply it according to the instructions and use a clean cloth to remove it after it has dried. Use a napping brush to lift the nubuck back to normal.

<>It is normal that body oil becomes accumulated on your valuable sofa, so make sure you use specialized leather cleaner to treat the stains. After that use a cloth and brush to restore the texture and nap.

Clean ink stains ASAP

If you happen to have ink stains on your valuable furniture, make sure you clean them up as soon as possible. Use an ink lifting product for leather to make sure the ink is removed. You can use a blow dryer and a napping brush and cloth to make sure the surface is restored back to normal.

If you have tougher stains on your nubuck furniture, you may want to sand them down using a clean pumice stone or gentler sanding methods. Rub the area in order to remove the top layer of the nubuck upholstery on the stained spot. Make sure you don’t over-rub the spot so that you don’t end up with a visibly lighter spot on your furniture!

For tougher stains, you should seek the assistance of professional upholstery cleaners. They will perform the job with high-quality machines and detergents making sure your comfortable sofa looks and feels like brand new again.
